the best places to shop online for canadians

Hi guys,

Welcome to 2018! To kick off this year I thought I’d share with you my favourite stores to shop at for duty-free (and worry free) deliveries in Canada. I don’t know about you but I really, really hate having to pay customs and duties – especially if it comes as a surprise! There’s nothing worse than thinking you got a great deal on clothes and then are slammed with fees at your door. Oftentimes, it’s not even just duties! They also like to add a “handling” fee for getting your package across the border. I’ll never forget buying a $20 dress from Missguided only to have $32 in duties and fees owing once I received my parcel – never again!!

So I thought for all my Canadian followers this list might prove to be helpful. Maybe you’ll even discover a new store you love! Without further ado, where I am usually spending all my money:

Zara

This one goes without saying. It’s my favourite store to shop at currently and they have a warehouse in Montreal which means I usually get packages within 2 days. Shipping is $4.95 or free over $50 (which, let’s be honest, I’m usually spending).

H&M

Takes a little longer to ship but I find they have some really great deals on knitwear (perfect for Canadian winters) and whenever they replenish their sale section you can find some great hidden gems. Also have some really cute home items. Shipping is $7.99 or free over $50, and occasionally they will have free shipping promos.

Mango

A little more pricey but similar to Zara. They have some really unique pieces which I love! Shipping is $4.95 or free over $50.

Aritzia

A Canadian gem for high quality pieces! Standard shipping is $8 or free over $150.

American Eagle/Aerie

Where I go for all my bras and underwear, and the occasional top from Aerie – duties and customs are paid by them! Shipping is $7USD or free with any jeans or bra purchase.

Urban Outfitters

Shipping is $9.95CAD but again they cover all custom costs! Love shopping here for trendy pieces.

The Bay

Where you can buy all the Topshop you desire without the customs fees. Wait for the Topshop sales, where almost everything is discounted! Shipping is $5.95.

ASOS

***They have warehouses in the UK and US which means this store is not completely duty-free. I have ordered from here more than 10 times I would say and have paid duties twice. I have heard if you keep your purchase around $50 or lower, you won’t get charged but that might just be hearsay. I included it in the list because they have one of the biggest online stores I have ever shopped, and it might be worth taking a look at for you. I find they have great deals on their own ASOS brand!
